As of October 2010, there are five horses, one cat and no mice living in the barn (but a few bats). I also have twelve chickens in the hen house, two lambs mowing the lawn and about 250,000 honey bees in four hives. There are also two dogs living in the house. But they're family members...
TaroTaro is a Dutch Warmblood from Holland who Amy found during a trip in March of 2003, and he arrived at the end of April with help from our friend Remond.
William Bonney (Willy)Willy is Amy's horse. He moved to Pepperell with us in November of 1995. He was bought "by the pound," because he was labeled a killer. In reality, he is a really sweet quarter horse with a couple of paranoias (which are fading with age). Amy uses him for lessons now, and sometimes takes him on trails. Willy is the king of the field (when Taro is nt around).
Dakota Souix (Mr. D)Mr. D is a big, mild mannered paint that is kind to anyone who gets on his back. English, Western, trails, ring work,...You name it and Mr. D is happy to do it.
RhapsodyRhapsody is a 14-hand Arab gelding who is very easy to ride. He is 15 years old. His nick-name is Pooh-Bear and he is a charmer.
ChickensIn April 2003, we got our first eight baby chicks. I am on to my fourth flock now.
Honey BeesI have four extremely productive honey bee hives (and lot of honey for sale).
The CatsSammy, and Jamie are our barn cats. They think they are house pets, but they are barn cats. They are professional mouse catchers. Scratches and Sammy shown (respectively). Scratches passed away, and Jamie is very shy around people and cameras.
